Webcomics

I’m dividing this list of webcomics (or comics on the web) into very loose categories, mostly to give you a better idea of what you might be getting into. There is a lot of overlap and I’m not interested in strictly defining any of these works as one thing or another.

Humor/Gag Strips

Carrying the tradition of newspaper funnies onto the web, these strips are set up as daily joke comics.

Journal Comics

Daily or weekly updates in the life of the artist, in some form or another.

American Elf – James Kochalka
Gardening Comics – L. Nichols

Long Form

Leaning closer towards telling a longer narrative rather than focusing on the jokes. These comics tend to be more character or plot-centered.

Old City Blues – Giannis Milonogiannis
Persimmon Cup – Nick Bertozzi
Anders Loves Maria -Rene Engström

Sin Titulo – Cameron Stewart
The Abominable Charles Christopher – Karl Kershl

Not Safe for Work

Nasty jokes usually paired with rough art styles, these comics are funny as hell if that’s your sensibility (not for everyone though, probably). Or they they might be a bit heavy on the sexy. Kids, ask your parents before using the internet.

Maakies – Tony Millionaire
Leisure Town – Tristan A. Farnon
Space Moose – Adam Thrasher
Where’s My Shoe – Ed Atlin
Effort Comics – Lin Visel
Curvy – Slyvan Migdal
Star Fighter – HamletMachine

Experimental/Art Comics

The avant garde, testing the limitations of the webcomics format, or simply the comics medium as a whole.
MS Paint Adventures – Andrew Hussie (Problem Sleuth, Homestuck)
Rainbow & I – Jen Tong
Forming – Jesse Moynihan
Meanwhile – Jason Shiga
Garfield Minus Garfield – Dan Walsh
NAWLZ – Stu Campbell
